In "Murder Mystery 2", it’s established from the beginning that there are at least two people responsible for the crime that Nick & Audrey Spitz have to solve. I figured out the identity of one of the culprits the second they showed up. I was also able to tell when and how a scene featuring this individual was meant to mislead the audience. Oh, man! At least the first installment had some genuine surprises. What characterizes these two amateur detectives is that they say comedic dialogue even when something terrible is going on. I get it. It’s part of the joke. However, sometimes, it’s presented as if they do understand the seriousness of the circumstances. That’s when it feels like Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are unable to react properly. Well, at least they still have chemistry with each other (maybe even more than the last time). The humor in both movies falls flat, aside from a few exceptions. In fact, during the last part of this one, a new character shows up. I laughed at the purposefully clichéd lines and also at the fact that their presence has nothing to do with what’s going on! Unfortunately, as the minutes go by, this character starts to get directly involved, which ruins the "random factor" of the joke. The marketing revealed that the climax takes place at the Eiffel Tower, so it’s not a spoiler to mention that. There are one or two exciting moments, but the situation as a whole is too far-fetched. Even if I were to accept the (dubious) explanation given by the characters at to why there are no tourists, where’s the security personnel?! When Nick & Audrey arrive at a hotel, something happens that's rare for a Happy Madison production. Not the obvious product placement (that's one of their trademarks), but the obvious product placement for different brands within a span of seconds. It only happens from time to time, so we should embrace this special event and not take it for granted.
