Unrboken 2: Path to Redemption

Unrboken 2: Path to Redemption

The next amazing chapter of Olympian and World War II hero Louis Zamperini's powerful true story of forgiveness, redemption, and amazing grace.

"Unrboken 2: Path to Redemption" opens with a recap of the protagonist's past. The combination of clips, photos and animation is creative, but then the movie itself starts. It has the production values of a made-for-TV movie (despite being released in theaters). Both installments are filled with clichés, but at least the first one felt cinematic. Merritt Patterson's performance is very good, while Andrew Caldwell's is bad. Once again, we follow the life of traumatized veteran Louis Zamperini. Since this is based on true events, and since it's a Pure Flix production, I don't think it's a spoiler to say that he recovers once he accepts God. The movie didn't seem to imply that every person suffering from PTSD or alcoholism needs this solution. Therefore, I feel confident in placing this in the "religious movies that don't teach bad lessons" category. That doesn't excuse the lack of subtlety when delivering its messages, though.
